Jessica Ranck Selected Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has chosen eight athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference.
The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics. The conference office will announce the eight honorees over the next two weeks.
Susquehanna University's Jessica Ranck has been named the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete. Ranck is a four-time All-Landmark honoree in indoor and outdoor track. She was a standout in the discus, finishing as runner-up three times including the past two seasons. Ranck also added a championship in the weight throw during the 2011-12 indoor season.
A consistent thrower for the Crusaders, Ranck racked up four top-10 finishes at the Landmark Outdoor Track & Field Championships this season. She was second in discus, third in hammer, sixth in javelin and ninth in the shot put.
In addition to competing with the track and field teams, Ranck is involved with a number of campus organizations including the Student Government Association, SU College Republicans, Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society and the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society.
Originally from Lewisburg, Pa., Ranck is a biology and secondary education major. She has earned a 3.66 cumulative grade point average and been recognized on the Landmark Honor Roll six times during her career. A member of the Dean's List, Ranck also participated in the Landmark Summer Research Conference.
