Emily Lambright Named Landmark Women’s Cross Country Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the first six honorees will be announced over the next two weeks.

Moravian College's Emily Lambright has been named the Women's Cross Country Senior Scholar Athlete. Lambright follows Tara Chiarella as the second women's cross country runner to be honored from Moravian. She is the 16th Greyhound in the last eight years, and the second this year to earn top honors.

Lambright is a three-time All-Landmark selection including First Team honors twice. Last month she finished fourth at the Landmark Championships to earn First Team accolades. It was her best Landmark finish improving on last year's seventh place result. Lambright followed up the Landmark meet by earning All-Region honors with a 29th place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals.

In her four years with the Greyhounds, Moravian has won two Landmark Championships and never finished lower than third. Lambright is also a member of the indoor and outdoor track & field teams where she has been a part of six conference titles so far. Last year she earned Second Team All-Landmark recognition in three track & field events.

Lambright boasts a 4.0 cumulative grade point average while majoring in economics and political science. She also has a minor in mathematics. Lambright is just the fourth Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete with a 4.0. Originally from Chalfont, Pa., she is a three-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection and last year she earned Capital One Academic All-America Second Team honors after advancing through the Academic All-District ballot.

Additionally, Lambright is in the Moravian College Community Orchestra and she serves as the finance chair for Moco for Coco, a club that aims to spread awareness about pediatric cancer.
