Brian Scholly Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the six winter honorees will be announced this week.

Juniata College's Brian Scholly has been named the Men's Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete. He was a four-year starter for the Eagles and racked up 1,318 points. Scholly earned Second Team All-Landmark honors a year ago after setting a new Landmark record for 3-point field goals in a season with 99. He broke the Juniata and Landmark record for career 3-pointers (256) and boasts the top 3-point field goal percentage in Eagles history (.426).

Scholly helped Juniata to two appearances in the Landmark Championship game as well as two ECAC Championships. Last month he was named the Most Valuable Player of the ECAC Southwest Region Championship.

Originally from State College, Pa., Scholly has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.72 while majoring in history with a minor in education. He is a three-time Landmark Honor Roll selection and a member of last year's Landmark All-Academic Team. Scholly has also been named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team the past two years.
