Field Hockey Players Honored With All-Landmark Honors
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark has announced its 2015 Field Hockey All-Conference teams. Juniata's Sarah Bilheimer was voted Player of the Year, and Scranton's Jessica Pankey was named Defensive Player of the Year. Catholic's Lane Adams was named Rookie of the Year and Catholic head coach Gia Cillizza earned her sixth Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year honor.
Bilheimer was an offensive force for the Eagles, and led the team with 21 goals, nine assists and 51 points. Her 21 goals rank first in the Landmark, and her 51 points are good enough for first, 11 points more than the second place scorer.
Pankey anchored a Royals defense that posted seven shutouts, and allowed just 22 goals in 18 games during the 2015 season. She also appeared in 16 games this season where she scored eight goals and six assists for 22 points.
Bilheimer, who was also named to the First Team All-Landmark, is joined by Catholic's Rachel Day and Elizabethtown Jacki Hikes to round out the forwards. Day was third in the Landmark with 14 goals while Hikes was close behind with 13, and ranked first in assists with 12.
The first team midfielders include Rookie of the Year Lane Adams, Elizabethtown's Nicole Leaf, Goucher's Lizzie Barminski, and Juniata's Allison Groft. Adams scored four goals in her freshman campaign, second best amongst Cardinal freshman. Leaf recorded three goals and added seven helpers, while Barminski has 12 goals and four assists.
Joining Pankey on First Team defense is two-time All-Landmark selection Tarah Portland from Catholic, Kelsey Leibelsperger from Juniata, and Halley Donlin from Elizabethtown.
Tournament Most Valuable Player Analisa Scott from Catholic was voted First Team goalkeeper. Scott led the league in save percentage, boasting a .833 average. The junior stared every game for the Cardinals and posted an 11-6 record while making 95 saves.
Cillizza collected her sixth Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year honor in nine seasons of Landmark competition. The Cardinals' coaching staff led Catholic to the No. 3 seed in the Landmark tournament and its eighth appearance in the conference championship game.
