Lewis Cooper Selected as Men's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. — Moravian's Lewis Cooper has been named the 2015 Landmark Men's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. He is the fourth Greyhound senior recognized in 2014-15, and the first from Moravian's men's tennis program to be honored since Ian Box in 2009-10.
A two-year Second-Team All-Landmark performer (twice in doubles, once in singles), Cooper went 17-7 in singles as a senior in 2014-15, registering the third-most single-season singles victories in program history. He also set a new school record for career doubles wins after upping his four-year total up to 45 this spring. Cooper primarily played at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles this year, as the Greyhounds earned a Landmark playoff appearance and won the inaugural postseason ECAC Championship tournament.
Off the court, Cooper has a stellar 3.94 grade-point average as a double major in mathematics and computer science. He has landed on the Dean's List every semester at Moravian, and he was selected to the Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll each year he was eligible. Cooper was a three-time co-captain for the tennis team, and he was also a three-year starter on defense for the soccer team in the fall.
The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the eight spring honorees are being announced between June 1-11.
