Landmark Releases Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark men’s soccer coaches voted Elizabethtown sophomore Gilbert Waso as the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Teammate Sam Feehrer was voted the Defensive Player of the Year. Drew’s Andy Imoh earned Rookie of the Year honors and Scranton head coach Matt Pivirotto was named Coach of the Year.
Waso leads the Blue Jays this season with 14 regular season goals and six assists for 36 points. Just in conference play he racked up six goals and four assists and for the season has two game-winning goals. Waso is a making his second appearance on the All-Landmark First Team, and has earned Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.
Feehrer is making his first appearance on the Landmark First Team after being named to the Second Team in 2015 while competing on the Blue Jays backline. Playing in all 18 games for E-town, Feehrer has tallied one goal this season and had a league-leading seven assists.
Imoh led the Rangers with eight goals this season, which ranked him tied for third in the conference. He added three assists for Drew including one in conference play.
Scranton Head Coach Matt Pivirotto was voted Landmark Coach of the Year by his colleagues. In his 17th season at the helm, Pivirotto led the Royals to their second consecutive title. Scranton finished the season with a 14-3-1 overall record and went 5-2 in the Landmark. Just recently, the Royals earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
The 12 players named to the First Team represent five different institutions. Joining Imoh as First Team forwards are Elizabethtown senior Jeff Light and Scranton senior Henry Bonilla. Light has earned All-Conference recognition for the second time after serving as a crucial piece of the Blue Jays’ offense. He scored five goals and added six assists. Bonilla racked up a team-leading seven goals, five of which were game-winning.
Joining Waso as First Team midfielders are Drew’s Dylan Hammer. Hammer helped maintain possession for the Rangers in the midfield while adding six goals and three assists during the regular season. The conference has recognized Moravian’s Connor Phillips, and Scranton’s Michael Bergen for the first time in their career. Phillips scored a team-high eight goals for the Greyhounds and chipped in four assists during the regular season. Bergen is a leader in the center midfield for Scranton and scored four goals with three assists.
Four defenders were named to the First Team including Feehrer. Moravian sophomore Akinori Mollentheil was instrumental part of a defense that allowed just eight goals in conference play during the entire regular season. Scranton senior Pat Codispoti served as a vocal leader of a defense that posted a league-leading eight shutouts during the regular season. He also contributed on the offensive end, scoring three goals and one assist. Susquehanna senior Garian Lashley played in 15 games with 14 starts for the River Hawks. Lashley tallied one goal and converted on his only penalty kick of the season.
Elizabethtown senior Ryan Sandell was chosen as the Landmark First Team goalkeeper. Sandell finished with a 0.71 goals against average with three shutouts. He is credited with much of Elizabethtown’s success this season on the way to earning 12 wins and a .825 save percentage.
