Susquehanna's Kelsey Lessard Named Women's Swimming Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. — Susquehanna University’s Kelsey Lessard has been named the Landmark’s Women’s Swimming & Diving Senior Scholar Athlete for the 2015-16 season. Lessard is the 22nd Crusader student-athlete to receive the award, and the first women’s swimming and diving recipient.

Lessard was a member of four-straight Landmark Conference championship teams, serving as team captain her senior year. She is a four-year First-Team All-Landmark Conference athlete and was named Rookie of the Year in 2012-13, and Swimmer of the Year in 2015-16. Lessard achieved three NCAA B-cuts this season and one as a junior. She holds the SU record in the 200 IM and in total, holds top-10 times in eight SU events 

Boasting a 3.55 cumulative grade-point average, Lessard is a strategic communications-publication relations major with minors in political science and environmental studies. The senior has made the Dean’s List in every eligible semester, and has earned a spot on the Landmark Academic Honor Roll in each of her three eligible seasons. A member of Alpha Delta Pi, Lessard plans to attend law school after graduation.

The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the six winter honorees will be announced between March 15 –23.
