Catholic's Kyle Phanord Named Men's Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – Kyle Phanord of Catholic University has been named the 2016 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for Men’s Basketball.
A biology major boasting a 3.66 GPA, Kyle Phanord is the co-captain of the 2016 Landmark Conference Champion Catholic men’s basketball team. Not only did he start every game for the Cardinals this past season, he has never missed a game in his career.
A two-time Landmark Conference Champion, Phanord has helped Catholic to three NCAA Tournament berths.
This past season, he ranked second in the conference with 2.8 3-pointers per game and was fifth with a 42.5 3-point field goal percentage. He finished the season as Catholic’s fourth-leading scorer with 9.4 points per game and was selected to the Landmark All-Sportsmanship team.
Phanord is also extremely active off the court as he is involved with campus ministry and has been a part of several service projects including wreath-laying at Arlington National Cemetery and soup kitchens in Washington, D.C.
The Davie, Fla., native along with his twin-brother and co-captain Kevin, will both graduate this May with a focus in dentistry and orthodontics. The twins with will continue their doctoral degrees at the University of Florida’s medical school as they both plan to become dentists.
