Two Ranked in Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The final Learfield Directors’ Cup fall standings for Division III has been announced, and two Landmark institutions made the list.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. The Directors’ Cup Committee is reviewing the scoring structure for 2016-17 which will be finalized prior to the winter sports standings.

Juniata College led the pack in 40th with 75 total points. This fall, the Eagles picked up two Landmark Conference titles in field hockey and volleyball, and was the runner-up in men’s cross country.

Elizabethtown College came in at No. 74 with 48 points. The Blue Jays earned their fourth conference title in men’s and women’s cross country and made an appearance in the Landmark championships in men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey.

In Division III, Middlebury is in second with 226 points after capturing the women’s field hockey title and finishing 11th in women’s cross country and 15th in men’s cross country. Johns Hopkins currently is in third with 221 points after capturing the women’s cross country title, finishing 9th in women’s volleyball and 17th in men’s cross country. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is in fourth with 209.50 points taking home the women’s volleyball title, finishing 12th in women’s cross country and 29th in men’s cross country. Rounding out the top five is Wisconsin La Crosse with 197 points, finishing second in men’s cross country and 17th in both women’s cross country and volleyball.

The WIAC and UAA lead all Division III conferences with two institutions in the top 10 – Wisconsin La Crosse (5th) and Wisconsin Eau Claire (10th) for the WIAC, and Washington-St. Louis (8th) and Emory (9th) for the UAA.
