TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the first six honorees will be announced over the next week.

Juniata College’ Megan Moroney has been named the Volleyball Senior Scholar Athlete. Moroney is the fourth Juniata volleyball player to be named a Senior Scholar and first since Megan Sollenberger in 2009. She is the 12th student-athlete in Juniata history to be honored.

A two-time All-Landmark Conference selection, Moroney finished her senior campaign with 199 kills, 48 digs, 67 blocks, and 13 service aces. Her play was instrumental in leading Juniata to a 24-9 record, including a conference title, her fourth in four years. She has also been a member of the Eagles team that has been ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) top-25 every week during her career.

Academically, Moroney has earned a 3.79 cumulative grade point average while majoring in mathematics. Originally from Mentor, Ohio, she is a two-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
