Kelly Cousoulis Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the first six honorees will be announced over the next week.
Catholic University’s Kelly Cousoulis has been named the Field Hockey Senior Scholar Athlete. The award makes the fourth time a Catholic field hockey player has won the award and first since Maura Campbell in 2014. Cousoulis adds another accolade to her already impressive resume. She was recently named the Landmark Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season and was named to the All-Conference First Team.
Over her the last four years with Cousoulis, the Cardinals appeared in the Landmark postseason, earning one Landmark title in 2015 and made two trips to the NCAA tournament (2014, 2015).
Academically, Cousoulis boasts a 3.78 cumulative grade point average while majoring in politics. Originially from Fairfield, N.J., Cousoulis is a three-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection and a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Squad honoree.
