All-Landmark Swimming & Diving Teams Announced

TOWSON, Md. – At the conclusion of the 2017 Landmark Swimming & Diving Championships, Catholic's Guido Saccaggi and Susquehanna's Ashlee Weingarten were named the Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Year. Scranton's Michael Diana and Drew's Jenny Stein were chosen as the Men's and Women's Divers of the Year. Drew swept the Rookie of the Year honors. Jack Mahoney was chosen for the men while Mal Vishwanath earned the honors on the women's side. Coaching Staff of the Year were selected by the conference coaches.

Catholics head coach Paul Waas and his staff earned the Coaching Staff of the Year honor on the men's side. Waas was recognized by the Landmark for the second time in his career as he was Co-Coach of the Year in 2015. Waas led the Cardinals to their first conference championship in 10 years. Previously, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy won nine straight titles.

Guido Saccaggi helped lead the Cardinals to their first league championship over the weekend. The senior captured three first place finishes at the 2017 Landmark Conference Championships and was a member of the 800 Free Relay that captured gold. Saccaggi also took first-place in three individual events, including the 400 Individual Medley, 100 Backstroke, and 200 Backstroke.

Michael Diana earned Diver of the Year honors in his rookie campaign. The freshman won the 3-meter Dive with a score of 369.65 and finished the 1-meter dive with a mark of 389.05.

Drew's Jack Mahoney earned Rookie of the Year honors after winning the 50 and 100 Freestyle races and placed second in the 200 Freestyle. Mahoney was also a member of the 400 Medley Relay team that took finished first.

Ashlee Weingarten earned Landmark Swimmer of the Year honors on the women's side. She set a meet and NCAA-B cut time in the 100 Butterfly after touching the wall with her first-place time of 56.78. She set another B-cut mark with her first-place time of 2:06.68 in the 200 Butterfly. She also competed on the 400 Medley Relay team that set a new championship and conference record with a time of 3:52.18, and the 200 Medley Relay team that won with a time of 1:46.39, also a meet and championship record. Weingarten also took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.08.

In women's diving, Jenny Stein placed first in the 3-meter Dive with a new meet and conference record of 409.40 points. The junior also won the 1-meter Dive with a score of 395.45 to win the even and set a new meet record.

Mal Vishwanath earned Rookie of the Year honors after capturing four first-places finishes and two runner-up finishes. Vishwanath made her debut in the 200 Free Relay where she anchored the second-place team with a time of 1:38.71. She won the 500 Freestyle race, touching the wall with a time of 5:06.10 and set a new conference and meet record in the 200 Freestyle with a winning time of 1:54.09. She earned a B-cut with her winning time of 17:27.62 in the 1650 Free race and was also a member of the winning 800 Free Relay team.

Susquehanna head coach Jerry Foley and his staff were honored with Women's Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the third straight year and fourth overall.

First Team All-Landmark honors are awarded to everyone who finishes first at the Landmark Championships while second place finishers earn Second Team All-Landmark recognition. Catholic led the seven men's teams with eight student-athletes named to the First Team while winning five individual events and two relays. The women's First Team features four Susquehanna River Hawks who combine to win six individual events and two relays.
