Women's Tennis Awards for 2016-17 Season Announced
TOWSON, Md. — The seven Landmark women's tennis coaches have selected Moravian's Brittney Eady as the 2016-17 Player of the Year. Drew's Ashley Camel was voted the Rookie of the Year, and Ranger head coach Matt Brisotti earned Coach of the Year.
Eady is fifth Moravian's women's tennis player to earn Player of the Year. She finished 15-2 overall playing at the top of the Greyhounds lineup on each occasion and was a perfect 7-0 in conference matches. Eady also landed on the Landmark's First Team singles list for the fourth straight year.
Camel helped guide the Rangers to a perfect 7-0 conference record and the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Championships. She played at the No. 1 position where she posted a 14-4 overall record and 5-2 in the Landmark. Camel also earned a spot on the First Team.
Scranton's Julia Frattaroli earned her second honor on the First Team singles team. After spending the 2016 season at the No. 2 spot, Frattaroli was promoted to the top of the lineup where she posted a 5-1 record in Landmark matches.
Joining Frattaroli as repeat selections are Elizabethtown's Taylor Helsel and Juniata's Lauren Lucas. Helsel helped guide the Blue Jays to their third straight Landmark title. She played at the top of the Jays lineup, finished the regular season with a 4-3 Landmark record. Lucas, who was the 2016 Player and Rookie of the Year, had another standout year. She won four of her six Landmark matches playing at the No. 1 spot.
Drew's Ty Ty Witten rounds out the First Team squad. The sophomore played at the No. 2 singles position, ended the regular season with a 12-1 record, including a 6-1 mark in conference matches.
