Landmark Releases Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams
TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown College senior Gilbert Waso has been named the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year for the third time in his career and teammate Mitchell Gochnauer was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
Waso earned his third Offensive Player of the Year honor after leading the Blue Jays in scoring with 24 points on seven goals and a league-leading 10 assists. Gochnauer is the third player from Elizabethtown to earn Defensive Player of the Year accolades, joining Martin Fevre (2015) and Sam Feehrer (2016). He anchors Etown's defensive unit that allowed two goals against Landmark foes this season.
Both players were also All-Landmark First Team selections, and helped the Blue Jays capture their first Landmark Men's Soccer Championship with a 1-0 victory over Catholic University and a berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Six players represented Elizabethtown on the All-Landmark teams, while Drew University also nabbed six. Eight players earned All-Landmark First Team honors for the first time in their career.
Joining Waso and Gochnauer on the First Team from Elizabethtown is senior goalkeeper Brian Gately. He started in all 17 games for the Blue Jays, posting a 9-3-4 record with eight shutouts. He made 49 saves, allowing just 15 goals for an average of 0.89. Against Landmark teams, Gately posted a 4-0-2 record with four shutouts. He allowed only two goals and stopped 25 shots.
Drew forward Aidan Cserhat earns his second All-Landmark honor with a spot on the First Team. Cserhat tallied 29 points with a league-leading 12 goals and five assists. He is joined by midfielders Max Correa, a second time All-Landmark First Team selection, and Anthony McMyne, who is a first time honoree.
Catholic defender, Mike Narzikul leads the three Cardinal selections, earning First Team honors for the second time in his career. Narzikul helped the Catholic defense allow just 19 goals this season, including an impressive four goals against Landmark teams. Ben Alexander and Brian Galfond earn First Team honors for the first time in their careers. Alexander led the team with six goals while Galfond ranked second with four goals, and adding a team-leading six assists.
The University of Scranton landed two honorees on the First Team in Jon Roberts and Patrick Prinner. Roberts led the team with four goals and six assists while Prinner scored two goals this year.
Scott Misson of Susquehanna earns All-Landmark honors for the first time. Misson started in every game for the River Hawks this season.
Moravian College first-year Anthony Nagy is the Landmark Rookie of the Year. He is the first Greyhound to earn Rookie of the Year honors since Moravian joined the conference in 2007. Nagy, who earned a spot on the All-Landmark Second Team, played in 18 games for Moravian. He scored three goals and added two assists, and helped guide the Greyhounds to their first Landmark Men's Soccer Championship appearance.
Elizabethtown's Skip Roderick and Moravian's Bob Wilkinson share Landmark Coach of the Year honors. Roderick earns the honor for the second time since joining the conference in 2014, while Wilkinson earns his first honor. Roderick led the Blue Jays to a 10-4-4 overall record and captured the Blue Jays first Landmark men's soccer title. Wilkinson guided the Greyhounds to a 7-9-2 in his first year with Moravian.
