Hoesman Honored as Women’s Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown’s Emma Hoesman has been named the Landmark Women’s Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete for the 2017-18 season. Hoesman is the 13th Blue Jay to earn senior scholar recognition, is the first women’s basketball player for Elizabethtown, and third Blue Jay in this academic year (Tommy Fitzgerald – Men’s Track & Field, Brenna McNamee – Women’s Track & Field).
Hoesman led the Blue Jays to a 15-10 overall record and 9-5 Landmark mark in 2017-18, as Elizabethtown earned its second straight trip to the conference tournament.
Off the court, the two-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection has tabulated an impressive 3.60 grade point average as an Early Childhood Education major.
She finished her senior campaign averaging a career-best 5.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and had 91 assists and 31 steals. Hoesman wrapped up her career having never fouled out of a game and rarely dealt with foul trouble.
The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
