O’Hagan Named Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. – Catholic University's Danny O'Hagan has been selected as the 2018 Landmark Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete. He becomes the second Cardinal to earn senior scholar baseball accolades, joining Marc Hanna (2014), and is the fifth Catholic student-athlete this year.

O'Hagan, a 3.79 mathematics major, is a career .326 hitter who was instrumental in guiding Catholic to a Landmark Conference Championship and the NCAA Regionals this year as the team's starting backstop.

Recently named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, presented by CoSIDA, he was also recognized as a member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third-consecutive season.

An All-Landmark player he has thrown out 41-of-79 base stealers while also getting it done in the batter's box. O'Hagan has posted at least 30 hits, 14 runs, a homer, 10 RBI and a .328 average in each of the past three seasons. This year he has posted career highs with a 27 runs, 40 hits, 16 walks, 19 RBI, three stolen bases and a .443 on-base percentage.

He is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and a Dean's List student. He currently works at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab as a technical intern.

The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. 

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
