TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown College’s Kirstin Blass has been selected as the 2018 Landmark Softball Senior Scholar Athlete. She becomes the first Blue Jay to earn senior scholar softball accolades and is the third Elizabethtown student-athlete this year. year.
Blass, the Landmark Co-Player of the Year and First Team shortstop, hit .433 on the season for her best season average of her career. She also had a team-high 45 hits, which included 16 multi-hit games and an 11-game hit streak to finish out her career. Defensively, she was just as effective. If the ball came anywhere near the 6-hole, Blass was on it. The fifth-year helped saved runs on multiple occasions throughout the 2018 season and made just two errors all season long, a career low.
Off the field, Blass carries a perfect 4.00 GPA as a Special Education major. She is a four-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll selection and a 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Scholar Athlete. Blass was also a 2018 Elizabethtown College Distinguished Student Athlete Female nominee and a 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District nominee.
The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
