Thompson Named Women’s Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete

2018 Senior Scholar Athletes

TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown College’s Katie Thompson has been selected as the 2018 Landmark Women’s Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete. She becomes the first Blue Jay to earn senior scholar women’s lacrosse accolades and is the fourth Elizabethtown student-athlete this year.

The Landmark Conference's Player of the Year broke multiple Elizabethtown game, season, and career records in 2018. The record-breaking didn't stop at the institutional level, however. Thompson finishes her four-year career, all in the Landmark Conference, as the career assists (136 in 61 career games) and assists per game (2.23) leader. She is the only player in league history to average more than 2.0 assists per game. Her school-record tying 63 assists this past season was the most ever for a player in the Landmark in one season. Thompson now also holds the mark for the most assists in a game, both for E-town and the conference, and the most assists against Landmark-only opponents (40).

At the conference level, Thompson finishes second all-time in caused turnovers, fourth in groundballs, and eighth in groundballs for a career. Her 45 caused turnovers were the fourth-most in a single season for a Landmark Conference player and her 67 groundballs tied for the fifth-most.

Off the field, Thompson carries a 3.76 GPA as a Sociology-Anthropology major. She is a three-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll selection, a member of the Dean’s List, Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, and the Alpha Delta Honor Society.

Additionally, Thompson, is a writing tutor at Elizabethtown, a member of SAM and SAAC, a teaching assistant for two classes, and has volunteered for Special Olympics and Food Recovery.

The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
