TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown College senior thrower Matthew Pysher has been honored as the 2018 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men’s Outdoor Track & Field.
A team captain, Pysher had team's best marks in all throwing events during both the indoor and outdoor meets. He won the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw and was sixth in shot put at both meets. He earned a podium spot in the discus (5th) and was eighth in the javelin.
He finishes career third all-time indoors in shot put and second in weight throw, while setting a new personal best at 14.66 meters. In outdoor meets, he is third all-time in shot put and second in discus and hammer.
In the classroom, Pysher will graduate with a 3.75 GPA as a Political Science/Legal Studies major. He is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Pysher is Elizabethtown’s fifth Blue Jay this year to be honored as a scholar athlete.
The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
