Landmark Releases Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams
TOWSON, Md. – Catholic sophomore Ben Alexander and senior Ryan Kennedy were named the 2019 Landmark Offensive & Defensive Players of the Year respectively. Cardinal head coach Travis Beauchamp and his staff earned Coach of the Year honors while University of Scranton’s Christian Arcos was named Rookie of the Year.
Alexander becomes just the second Cardinal to earn Landmark Offensive Player of the Year, joining Michael Brennan, who won in 2011. He earns the honor after leading the Cardinals to a perfect 7-0-0 record in conference play and an impressive 18-2-1 overall. At the end of the season, the sophomore led the league and the Cardinals with 16 goals and ranked sixth with four assists.
Kennedy helped the Cardinal’s backline record 14 shutouts, setting a Landmark season record by a team. The Cardinals allowed just 13 goals this season, three of which were in conference games.
Arcos becomes Scranton’s third Rookie of the Year honoree, joining Joel Potter (2012) and Michael Bergen (2013). The freshman scored six goals in his first season to help the Royals to a 6-1 mark in conference and 11-5-2 overall.
Beauchamp earns his third Coach of the Year honors and first since the 2011 season. The 13th-year head coach guided the Cardinals to the programs fourth Landmark Men’s Soccer title last Saturday with a 2-0 shutout against Elizabethtown. Beauchamp’s 2019 team finished the regular season with a perfect 7-0-0 conference record, a first in program history.
