Landmark Announces Cross Country Awards

TOWSON, Md. – Samuel Gerstenbacher of Elizabethtown College and Natalie Novotni of Moravian College were named the Landmark Men's & Women's Performers of the Year following the 2019 Landmark Cross Country Championships, hosted by Catholic University.
The annual honor is given to the individuals who finished first at the conference championship meet.

Gerstenbacher is now three-time Performer of the Year, joining Susquehanna's Paul Thistle as the only Landmark men's cross country runner to earn the award three consecutive years. Gerstenbacher is the fifth Blue Jay to earn the honor, and first repeat honoree since Elizabethtown joined the conference in 2014. The senior also earns his fourth consecutive All-Landmark First Team honor.
Elizabethtown won its sixth Landmark title by placing four runners among the top-five finishers. Joining Gerstenbacher on the All-Landmark First Team was Liam Coverdale, Christopher Myers, and Will Schoener.
Moravian College senior Greg Jaindl finished runner-up for the second consecutive season, while teammate Darlyn Fermin finished his freshman campaign with a seventh-place finish and earning Rookie of the Year honors. Juniata's Vinnie Caroselli rounded out the First Team selections with a sixth-place finish.
Elizabethtown head coach Brian Falk and his staff earned their fourth Landmark Men's Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Blue Jays to their sixth straight conference title.
Moravian's Natalie Novotni earns her second straight honor and is the fourth Greyhound to earn the accolade from the women's race. Novotni joins Cadee Rockwell (2011) and Meg Brockett (2016).
Elizabethtown captured its sixth straight Landmark title and 13th overall on the strength of three runners in the top-five. The Blue Jays were led by Melissa Fitzgibbon in second, followed by Erin Doherty in fourth and Kaitlin Donahue in fifth. Susquehanna's Marissa Kleman placed third while Juniata's Azia Kalil and University of Scranton's Jessica Hoffmann cross the finish line in sixth and seventh respectively to round of the First Team selections.
Susquehanna's Kallan Carter ended her freshman season with an All-Landmark Second Team selection, placing 11th. Carter was the highest placing rookie, earning the conference's Rookie of the Year honors. She is just the third River Hawk to earn the honor, joining Casey Hess (2008) and Ashley West (2012).
Elizabethtown head coach Brian Falk and his staff were named the Landmark Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. He earned the award for the sixth time.
