TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the first six honorees will be announced over the next week.

Susquehanna University’s Hunter Pitman has been named the Landmark Field Hockey Senior Scholar Athlete. Pitman is the first River Hawk to be selected for field hockey.

Pitman has had a successful career as a four-year member of the Susquehanna Field Hockey program. In 2016, she was named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and was selected to the First Team. She finished the 2016 season with 22 goals and seven assists. She followed that performance up with 17 goals and two assists to earn Landmark Second Team honors in 2017. Her junior season, Pitman earned All-South Atlantic Region First Team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as well as Landmark First Team honors. She helped the River Hawks to a conference championship where she was named the Most Valuable Player. Pitman capped off her playing career in 2019, scoring 20 goals and four assists.

For her career, Pitman finished with 73 goals, 16 assists, and 162 points. Her 73 goals and 162 points ranks her first in the Landmark career categories.

Off the field, Pitman maintains a 3.82 cumulative grade point average in biomedical studies. She has made the Dean’s List every semester at SU, and is a three-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection. Pitman is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta First Year Honor Society, serving as the Vice President, and the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society.
