Women's Tennis Awards for 2018-19 Season Announced
TOWSON, Md. — The University of Scranton's Nastashia DeNunzio was voted the Landmark Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while Goucher College's Anais Gill was named the Rookie of the Year. Moravian College first-year head coach Aaron Wilf earned Coach of the Year accolades.
Like her teammte Julia Frattaroli last year, junior DeNunzio added a few more honors to an already decorated career by being named the Player of the Year as well as First Team All-Conference for both singles and doubles. The junior played at No. 1 singles this season, posting an overall record of 12-7, including a 6-1 mark in the Landmark. DeNunzio, who is now a four-time First Team All-Conference selection (twice singles/twice doubles), and is teh second Scranton player to earn Landmark Player of the Year honors.
Gill was named the conference Rookie of the Year after an outstanding rookie season in which she also garned First Team All-Conference singles and Second Team All-Conference doubles accolades. The freshman posted a winning record overall and an impressive 5-2 mark against other Landmark opponents. She is the second Goucher to be named Landmark Rookie of the Year since Ariel Lin picked up the award in 2012.
Wilf and his staff were honored as the Coaching Staff of the Year after leading Moravian to a record-setting year with a 19-1 finish in the 2018-19 season. The first-year head coach guided the Greyhounds to their fourth conference title with a 5-2 victory over Scranton.
