Petraskie Named Men's Indoor T&F Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Susquehanna University senior Chris Petraskie has been selected as the 2020 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men’s Indoor Track & Field.
This winter, Petraskie captured two Landmark Conference Indoor Championships, winning the high jump, which was his fourth straight, and won the long jump for the third straight year. He also became the first-ever, four-time Landmark Field Athlete of the Year. He was selected as All-Mideast Region in the long jump and the heptathlon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for being in the top five in each of the individual events.
He will compete in the heptathlon at the 2020 NCAA Division III National Championships, which will be held March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Along with being a champion in the high jump and long jump, Petraskie is a two-time champion in the triple jump. He won the event in 2017 and 2018 and placed second in 2019 and 2020.
Off the track, Petraskie has maintained a 3.66 grade point average in computer science with a minor in mathematics. He has made Susquehanna’s Dean’s List four times and is a three-time selection to the Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll and twice to the Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll. Petraskie is also a member of Susquehanna’s Kappa Mu Epsilion and the Mathematics Honor Society.
Petraskie is Susquehanna’s 33rd Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete since the conference began in 2007-08, second of the 2019-20 season, joining Hunter Pitman (field hockey), and he is the fifth indoor track & field student-athlete to be honored from Susquehanna.
