Stein Named Landmark Women's Golf Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. ---Brianna Stein of The University of Scranton women’s golf team was named the 2019-20 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for the sport on Monday afternoon.

This marks the second time in the short history of the Scranton women's golf program that a student-athlete has earned the Senior Scholar Athlete award from the Landmark, as Stein joins Julie Cranney, who won the award in 2017-18.

The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.

Stein, the first University of Scranton women's golfer to earn four letters in her career, will earn a degree in Operations Management & Philosophy at the end of the month, while accumulating a 3.92 career grade point average.

Selected to Scranton’s Dean’s List seven times, Stein is a member of the Business Leadership Honors Program, and has been inducted into three honor societies in her time at Scranton - the National Jesuit Honors Society, the Business Honors Society and the Women’s Business Honors Society.

Stein has also been named to the Landmark Conference’s Spring Academic Honor roll three times in her career, and served as the Royals’ team captain each of the last two seasons.

On the course, Stein posted a career scoring average of 95.2 in 38 career events over four seasons. She also carded her lowest round - an 83 - on three separate occasions throughout her career, firing the mark twice during the Fall 2019 season, and helped Scranton win 29 matches over her four-year career At the first Landmark Conference Championship in 2018, Stein earned All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors after registering the highest place on the team, a tie for ninth.
