Landmark Releases Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams
TOWSON, Md. – For the second straight year, a Catholic University men’s soccer player was named the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year, as junior Darius Siahpoosh was selected by the league’s eight head coaches.
Jake Nubbemeyer of the University of Scranton was voted Defensive Player of the Year, while Juniata College freshman, Malvin Madzimbamuto garnered Rookie of the Year honors.
Susquehanna University head coach Jim Findlay and his staff were tabbed Coaching Staff of the Year.
Siahpoosh is the third Cardinal to earn Offensive Player of the Year honors, joining Michael Brennan (2011) and Ben Alexander (2019). He finished the 2021 fall campaign ranked second in the league in goals scored (10) and second in points with 23. The junior helped guide the Cardinals to an 11-6-2 overall (5-1-1 Landmark) record and captured the program's fifth conference title last Saturday. In the semifinal matchup against Susquehanna, Siahpoosh was one of seven Cardinals to register a point, scoring one goal in the 4-0 victory. Additionally, Siahpoosh was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second time in his career.
Nubbemeyer was part of the Scranton backline that allowed just 11 goals this season, six of which were in conference play, and posted six shutouts. The senior’s selection to the Landmark All-Conference First Team is the second of his career and is the first Royal to be named Defensive Player of the Year in the 15-year history of the conference.
Madzimbamuto becomes Juniata’s first Rookie of the Year honoree. The freshman scored three goals for the Eagles while playing in all 15 games, starting in 13 of them.
Findlay and his staff earn their second Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2021. Findlay guided the River Hawks to a 9-7-2 overall record (3-2-2 Landmark) and a conference postseason appearance. The nine wins marked the highest win total since the 2015 season when the team finished 9-8-2.
