Landmark Volleyball Awards Announced
TOWSON, Md. – Juniata College's Victoria Taylor headlined the 2021 Landmark Volleyball All-Conference selections after being named the Player of the Year, as selected by the league's eight head coaches.
Taylor's teammate Olivia Foley earned Rookie of the Year honors while Lizzie Herestofa nabbed Specialist of the Year for the second straight season.
Drew University's Alyssa Broccoli and her staff took home Coaching Staff of the Year accolades.
Taylor ranked second in the conference in kills per set (3.80), third in hitting percentage (.322), and finished tied for eighth in kills (270). She helped the Eagles to win their 40th consecutive conference championship and 14th straight Landmark title with a sweep (3-) of the University of Scranton last Saturday. Additionally, Taylor was named to the All-Conference First Team for the third time in her career. She is the 12th JC women's volleyball player to be named Player of the Year in the conference's 15-year history.
For the second straight season, Herestofa was selected by the league's head coaches as Specialist of the Year. She joins Sarah Paluck (2013, 2015) to earn the honor from Susquehanna. The senior ended her fall campaign leading the league in digs with 564 and digs per set (5.53). Tuesday's honor marked the second time she earned First Team accolades.
Foley, who played in her first collegiate season this fall after missing out on her rookie campaign due to the pandemic in the fall of 2020, helped JC to an impressive 28-1 season and a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play. The sophomore ranked first in assists per set (10.51) and finished second with 925 total assists. Foley is the seventh player from Juniata to garner Rookie of the Year.
Broccoli and her staff earned the conference honor after guiding the first-year program to a 19-win season, finishing with an overall record of 19-9. In conference play, the Rangers won two conference matches and played two previous Landmark postseason teams, Catholic University and Susquehanna University to five sets.
