Landmark Releases Men's Golf Awards
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference announced its 2021 Men's Golf All-Conference teams. Zach Mueller of Catholic University took home Golfer of the Year honors, while Cardinal head coach, Ed Dolan, earned Coach of the Year. University of Scranton's Ethan Zawatski was named the Rookie of the Year.
The All-Landmark teams are based on the results of the championship, with each team consisting of six individuals. The six individuals with the lowest total score are named to the first team, and the next six individuals with the lowest total score are named to the second team. Golfer of the Year is determined based on the lowest score at the championship, while Rookie of the Year is awarded to a first-year player with the lowest total score. Rookie of the Year candidates must be in their first year of intercollegiate competition.
Mueller won the individual title with an even-par 72, tying his career low set on October 15, 2018. He totaled 11 pars and a tournament-high four birdies and was one under par through 15 holes. Mueller posted his third top-5 finish in five events this season and currently owns a career-best 77.00 scoring average.
All season, Zawatski led the way for Scranton, as the Royals captured four invitational titles and went a perfect 8-0 in dual event competition. Finishing with a 77.1 scoring average for the spring, Zawatski carded six rounds in the 70's, with his lowest coming last week against Susquehanna & Elizabethtown at Glenmaura, a 75.
Dolan led the Cardinals to their first-ever conference championship with a school record 299, the lowest round in the four-year history of the event. Catholic is the first school in the history of the Landmark Conference to sweep both the men's and women's golf championships in the same year. In the third year under Dolan, the Cardinals currently boast a 313.00 season average, an improvement of four strokes over last year and 12 from 2018-19.
