Zinn Named Softball Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Megan Zinn of the University of Scranton is the third Royal to garner Landmark Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete honors, joining Stephanie Romano (2015), and Shannon Stricker (2017). Zinn is Scranton's fourth winner this year, joining Megan Gallagher (Field Hockey), Lauren Byrne (Women's Swimming & Diving), and Connor Harding (Baseball).
One of the best players in the history of the program, Zinn ends her time in Scranton as the Royals' all-time career leader in hits, hits (199), runs (135), doubles (52), and at-bats (502).
Meanwhile, she posted a 3.93-grade point average as an undergraduate, earning a bachelor's degree last year from The University with Early Childhood and Primary Education. As a graduate student at Scranton this past year, she posted a 3.94 GPA in Special Education. She is also a member of the International Honor Society of Education, Kappa Delta Pi, was named to Scranton's Dean's List eight times, and was inducted to the National Jesuit Honor Society in 2020.
Throughout her career at Scranton, Zinn collected several individual accolades while leading the Royals to 111 victories, three Landmark Conference Championship berths, and a Landmark Conference title in 2019, the program's first.
A three-time All-Landmark Conference First Team selection in 2017, 2019, and 2021, Zinn also nabbed Second Team accolades in the outfield in 2018. In 2019, she earned both NFCA All-Region First Team and Division III All-American Third Team accolades, while in 2021, she was an All-Region Third Team selection from the NFCA.
A three-time selection to the Landmark Conference's Academic Honor Roll, Zinn has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team twice in her career (''19, '20) and in each of the last two seasons has been named to the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-American First Team, as well.
