Mahoney Named Men's Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Tom Mahoney of Elizabethtown College is the first Blue Jay to garner Landmark Men's Lacrosse Senior Scholar honors and is the third student-athlete from Etown to be honored in 2020-21. He joins Will Schoener (Men's Cross Country) and Veronica Christ (Women's Basketball).
One of the best players in the history of the program, Mahoney ends his time at Elizabethtown as the Blue Jays all-time career leader in wins (36) and save percentage (.566).
Mahoney posted a 3.80 grade point average as an Information Systems major and is a four-time Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll selection.
Throughout his career at Elizabethtown, Mahoney collected several individual accolades while leading the Blue Jays to three straight Landmark Conference Championship titles (2017, 2018, 2019).
A two-time All-Landmark First Team selection in 2019 and 2021, Mahoney earned top honors from the leagues head coaches this past season by being named Defensive Player of the Year. He also nabbed United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America honors, earning Honorable Mention in 2019 and 2021.
