TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Emily Wells of Moravian University was selected as the 2022 Landmark Field Hockey Senior Scholar-Athlete. She is the first Greyhound to earn the honor.
Wells was named to the Landmark Conference Field Hockey First Team after guiding the Greyhounds to the conference title match, which was the first time in program history.
She became the 15th player in program history to reach 50 career points. She finished her senior campaign with 17 goals and 21 assists. The 21 assists rank her fifth all-time in program history.
Academically, Wells has made the Dean's List all six semesters at Moravian and is a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Squad and Scholar of Distinction selection. She is also a member of the Moravian Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Wells is studying Biochemistry on a Pre-Med track with a 3.90 cumulative grade point average.
Wells is part of different clubs at Moravian, including being a member of Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She earned the Academic Award from Alpha Sigma Tau and was the Director of Philanthropy for the sorority in 2021. She is also a member of the Pre-Health Club.
