Landmark Field Hockey Awards Announced

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2022 Field Hockey awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Offensive Player of the Year - Katie Redding (University of Scranton)

Defensive Player of the Year - Annalee Smith (Susquehanna University)

Rookie of the Year - Mary Rojack (Catholic University)

Coaching Staff of the Year - University of Scranton (Colleen Moyer)

Redding is the Royal's third straight Offensive Player of the Year honoree and fourth overall. She joins Gretchen Kempf (2011), Alyssa Fania (2014), and former teammate Allie Benadon (2021) to be recognized. Redding earns her second major award honor after being named the Landmark Rookie of the Year last season.

She was an all-around offensive threat this fall for Scranton. She scored a league-leading 20 goals and added six assists in 16 games. Redding's First Team selection is the second of her career.

Smith is just the second field hockey player to earn back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year honors, and the first since Kelly Cousoulis (Catholic University) did it in 2016 and 2017. Additionally, it is only the second time a River Hawk has been named Defensive Player of the Year.

The graduate student is now a four-time All-Landmark First Team selection as a defender after guiding the River Hawks to a 15-6 record, including a 6-1 mark against Landmark teams. She helped the SU defense post seven shutouts this season and led the league with five defensive saves.

Rojack is the fourth Cardinal to win Rookie of the Year honors and the first since 2015 when Lane Adams was named.

Rojack played in 18 games with 17 starts for the Cardinals this fall. She scored two goals with one assist splitting her time as a midfielder and defender.

Moyer and her staff earn their second Coaching Staff of the Year honor after guiding the Royals to the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament after a 6-1 record in Landmark play. Scranton ended its season with an 11-5 overall record.

Scranton led the all-conference selections with six, followed by Catholic University and Moravian University with five. Susquehanna had four selections, and Elizabethtown College had three. Drew University had one all-conference selection.
