Men's Indoor Track & Field Awards Announced
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference announced Monday afternoon the 2021-22 Men's Indoor Track & Field All-Conference Teams.
Susquehanna University made it a clean sweep of the Landmark Indoor Track & Field awards. Junior Ian Dyson was named the Track Performer of the Meet, while sophomore Joey Masser earned Field Performer of the Meet. Brandon Zimmerman was voted the Rookie of the Meet and the SU coaching Staff nabbed Coaching Staff of the Meet.
Dyson claimed the top honors in the 60m dash with his time of 7.05 and earned a second-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 22.82. He was also a member of the winning 4x200 relay team (1:34.74). Dyson is the River Hawks eighth Track Performer of the Year, and first in the last five years.
Masser was a dual-threat for the River Hawks, excelling in both track and field events. The sophomore won the 60mH in 8.67 to pick up the gold in track events. He really shined in his field events, winning the Long Jump (7.01m), Triple Jump (13.75m), and was second in the High Jump (1.89m). Masser continues SU's streak of Field Performers of the Meet as he is the fifth straight River Hawk to earn the honor. Chris Petraskie won the honor in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Zimmerman is the sixth River Hawk named Rookie of the Meet, and first since 2013 when Kwane Hayle and Peter Kerns shared the honor. Zimmerman won the 200m dash in 22.81, besting Dyson by just .01 seconds. He earned Second Team honors in the 400m dash with his time of 51.23 and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team, who crossed the finish line in 3:30.14. Additionally, he picked up a second-place finish in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.85m.
The SU coaching staff earned their second honor. The River Hawks shared the award in 2014 with Moravian. Head Coach Ethan Senecal guided Susquehanna to their second Landmark title with 189 total points, 83 points ahead of the second-place team.
First Team All-Landmark honors are awarded to everyone who finishes first at the Landmark Championships while second-place finishers earn Second Team All-Landmark recognition.
