Everhart Named Women's S&D Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Sydney Everhart is the second Drew women’s swimming & diving athlete to win the award. She joins Ranger standout Mal Vishwanath C’20.
A butterfly specialist, Everhart has made her mark as an outstanding performer for the Rangers throughout her career, both individually and as a relay competitor. She is an eight-time Landmark Conference champion, winning six individual events and two relays, and has won the 100-butterfly four straight years.
This past year, Everhart closed out her collegiate career by earning a trio of First Team All-Landmark honors to help the Rangers capture the program's first-ever conference title.
Everhart has a hand in two different Drew records, including the 100-butterfly (57.32) and 400-medley relay.
In the classroom, Everhart is a biochemistry and molecular biology major with a minor in studio art. She has been enrolled in Research for Credit and has also been involved in the Drew labs, with her research focusing on investigating the small molecule indole and its role in bacterial persistence.
Everhart is a two-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient and is expected to be named to the list once again this season. She was also chosen as Drew’s Woman of the Year by the New Jersey Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW), based upon athletic excellence, academic success, and community service.
