Hoffmann Earns Second Senior Scholar Athlete Honor

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.

After earning the Women’s Cross Country Senior Scholar-Athlete honor this past fall, The University of Scranton senior Jessica Hoffmann was voted the Landmark Women’s Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar-Athlete. She is the first Royal to earn the honor for indoor track & field and is the third selection this academic year. Allie Benadon was the field hockey recipient this past fall.

A distance specialist, Hoffmann has made her mark as an outstanding performer for the Royals throughout her career. She is a four-time All-Landmark Conference performer with seven individual event victories and 21 top-10 finishes.

This past year, Hoffmann closed out her indoor career by earning two First Team All-Landmark honors at the conference championship. She won both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races. Hoffmann’s times in both the 3,000m and 5,000 races broke the conference records.

In the classroom, Hoffmann is an exerciser science major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.78. She is a three-time conference Academic Honor Roll selection, and a seven-time University of Scranton Dean’s List honoree.
