Landmark Releases Men's Golf Awards
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference announced its 2022 Men's Golf All-Conference teams. Lucas Artigliere of Drew University took home Golfer of the Year honors while Moravian University's TJ Bohl was named the Rookie of the Year. Ranger Head Coach John Manos and his staff were honored with Coaching Staff of the Year.
The All-Landmark teams are based on the results of the championship, with each team consisting of six individuals. The six individuals with the lowest total score are named to the first team, and the next six individuals with the lowest total score are named to the second team. Golfer of the Year is determined based on the lowest score at the championship, while Rookie of the Year is awarded to a first-year player with the lowest total score. Rookie of the Year candidates must be in their first year of intercollegiate competition.
Artigliere's title was the second of his career, as he also won it during his freshman campaign in 2019. The senior becomes the first-ever men's golfer to win multiple Landmark Conference titles since the conference began sponsoring the sport in 2017-18. Artigliere entered Saturday tied for sixth place after shooting an 80 in the opening round. However, he stormed back in the final round by shooting a 1-over-par 74 - the top score for any player on Saturday - on the strength of one eagle, two birdies, and 10 pars. Battling windy conditions the entire weekend, he finished with a 36-hole score of 154, beating out Moravian's TJ Bohl and Catholic's Jack Walsh by three strokes.
Bohl has been a steady player for the Greyhounds this year. The freshman has played in 13.5 rounds with a scoring average of 80.07. At the 2022 Championships, he finished in a tie for 11th with an 82, and he had a birdie and eight pars after the completion of day one. He climbed the leaderboard on day two to finish in a tie for second of the 40 golfers with a tournament total of 157. Bohl had the second-lowest round of the tournament overall with a two-over-par round of 75 on Saturday that included a trio of birdies and 10 pars. He had the lowest round by a freshman in the field to be the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year.
Drew first-year Head Coach John Manos was selected as the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Rangers from a last-place finish at last season's championship to conference champions a year later. The Rangers were in third place entering Saturday, trailing Catholic University by four strokes. They shot six strokes better than any other team on Saturday and finished with a final score of 640, beating out the runner-up The University of Scranton by five strokes.
