Mueller Named Men's Golf Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Catholic University senior Zach Mueller is the second Cardinal to be selected as the Landmark’s Men’s Golf Senior Scholar-Athlete. Former teammate Mathew Laurendeau earned the honor in 2020-21.
Mueller has steadily improved his golf game over his four years at Catholic. As a freshman, he placed fifth at the Landmark Championships and placed third as a sophomore in 2020. During his junior campaign, Mueller was named the conference Player of the Year after shooting a career-best 72 to earn First Team honors and lead Catholic to a team championship that earned the NCAA automatic qualifier. At the NCAA championships, Mueller carded a 36-hole total of 153. This past spring, he finished fourth at the conference championships to earn his third All-Conference First Team selection.
He holds the school record for career rounds (47) and ranks second with a 79.43 career average. Additionally, he also holds the school record for the best 36-hole score (150) and totaled 18 career top-10 finishes.
The Civil Engineering major graduated from Catholic with a 3.27 grade point average and was named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll twice.
