Yake helped the Blue Jays to a 6-1 conference record which helped clinch the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Men's Lacrosse Championship. The senior, who earns his first nod on the All-Conference First Team, has been part of record-breaking performances for Etown this season. He scored three goals in the regular-season finale against Goucher to help the Blue Jays set a new program single-game record of 28 goals and tie the conference record. Additionally, the Blue Jays recorded 44 points in the game to set a new Landmark record for points in a contest.
On the season, Yake has scored 59 goals, which leads the conference, and has five assists for 64 points. He is the first Blue Jay to earn outright Offensive Player of the Year honors. Jeremy Klipple was named Player of the Year in 2018 before the conference split the award into offensive and defensive awards. Etown, the second seed in the 2022 Landmark Conference Championship, opens postseason play Wednesday hosting third-seeded Scranton.
Hillery nabbed his second straight Defensive Player of the Year honor. He is part of a Catholic defense that posted an undefeated conference season (7-0) to clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Championship, as the unit has allowed just 47 goals against conference opponents. In 15 games, he's collected 46 groundballs and created 22 caused turnovers. The senior also contributed offensively, scoring four goals and three assists.
Lorence is the first River Hawk to be named Rookie of the Year since Dylan Abplanalp earned the honor in 2016. The rookie has had a standout season, scoring 32 goals, while dishing out 24 assists, the sixth-best mark for the regular season. Lorence and SU will travel to Catholic to take on the Cardinals in the men's lacrosse semifinals Wednesday.
Sax and his staff guided the Cardinals squad to its second straight undefeated conference record. The Coaching Staff of the Year honor is a first for Catholic. The reigning conference champions have played in nine of the 14 Landmark's men's lacrosse postseason games.
