Harrington Named Men's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
James Harrington of The University of Scranton is the fourth Royal to be named the Landmark’s Men’s Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. He joins Tim McGurrin (2013), and former teammates Brian Harkins (2019), and Tarquinn McGurrin (2021).
On the court, Harrington was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team Singles team in 2021 and 2022 and earned First Team Doubles honors the last two years.
The 2022 Landmark Player of the Year, Harrington finished his career as a Royal with an impressive 24-2 singles record.
The West Chester, Pennsylvania native graduated from Scranton with a 3.65 grade point average as a Mechanical Engineering major. He was a two-time Dean’s List honoree and a three-time Landmark Spring Academic Honor roll selection.
