TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the six winter honorees will be announced this week.

Moravian College's Katie O'Rourke has been named the Women's Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete. She is a two-time First Team All-Landmark selection after averaging in double figures the last two seasons. A four-year starter, O'Rourke is the first player in school history to accumulate 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists, and 200 steals. At the end of the 2013-14 season, she was honored with D3hoops.com Third Team All-Region recognition and WBCA Honorable Mention All-America honors.

O'Rourke helped the Greyhounds average more than 18 wins a season during her four-year career. Moravian made three ECAC tournament appearances and earned a NCAA tournament bid this month after finishing as runner-up in the Landmark Championship.

Academically, O'Rourke boasts a 3.73 cumulative grade point average while majoring in mathematics with a minor in secondary education. Originally from Palmyra, Pa., O'Rourke is a three-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection and was named to the Landmark All-Academic team a year ago. She is a seven-time Dean's List member and was named a Comenius Scholar.

Off the court, O'Rourke has been active in the team's community service projects including the Play 4Kay, breast cancer awareness initiative that has raised nearly $50,000 over the last five years. She also serves as secretary of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society and works as a resident advisor on campus. O'Rourke is a member of the Moravian Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has spent time working as an academic tutor.
