Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

During the fall season, field hockey, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday. 

 

Field Hockey Offensive - Katie Redding (Scranton)

Redding scored a pair of goals just under three minutes apart in the third quarter to lead the Royals to a 2-1 win over Catholic on Saturday. The Havertown, Pa. native also added a goal in a 2-0 win at Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday.

Field Hockey Defensive - Olyvia Jackson (Drew)

Jackson made a career-high 13 saves in Drew's 3-1 loss to Stevens. She collected seven of her stops in the third quarter when she turned aside every shot on goal. In addition, Jackson earned the win in the team's 4-1 victory over Goucher.

Men's Soccer Offensive - Darius Siahpoosh (Catholic)

Siahpoosh helped the Cardinals remain unbeaten with two stellar performances this week. He scored and assisted in a 2-1 midweek victory over Marymount (Va.) before netting the only goal of the match in a big win over The University of Scranton to open Landmark Conference play.

Men's Soccer Defensive - Andrew Remias (Moravian)

Remias posted the first two shutouts of his career and recorded seven saves in a 2-0 week for Moravian. He had one save in the first shutout of his career in a 3-0 victory over future Landmark Conference foe Wilkes University. Remias then recorded six saves in a 2-0 shutout win at Juniata College to open the 2022 Landmark Conference season.

Women's Soccer Offensive - Niamh Healy (Scranton)

Healy scored both goals in Saturday's 2-0 victory at Catholic to open Landmark Conference play as she found the back of the net in the sixth and 62nd minutes. The junior forward also added an assist in an 8-0 win at Wilkes last Tuesday.

Women's Soccer Defensive - Payce Korpics (Moravian)

Korpics made six saves and posted her first career solo shutout in a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds, including a win in the 2022 Landmark Conference opener. Korpics started, made three saves in the first half, and earned the win in a 1-0 victory over Stockton University. She then made three saves in her first career shutout in a 1-0 win at Juniata College.

Volleyball - Melina Christodoulou (Drew)

Christodoulou set a Drew record for blocks in a match, posting nine rejections in Drew's 3-2 loss to Arcadia. Four of her blocks were of the solo variety as she also helped the Rangers set the team record for blocks with 15. In addition, she threw down 11 kills and hit .381 for the match. For the week, she averaged 1.92 kills and 0.92 blocks per set while hitting .347 (23 kills, six errors, 49 attempts) as the Rangers went 2-1.
