Men's Soccer All-Conference & Awards Announced

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced the 2023 Men's Soccer Awards, as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

Offensive Player of the Year: Gordie Bernlohr (Catholic University)
Defensive Player of the Year: Brayden Wise (Lycoming College)
Rookie of the Year: Owen Allegro (Catholic University)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Lycoming College (Nate Gibboney)

Bernlohr earns his first Offensive Player of the Year and his third straight All-Landmark Conference First Team Selection. The senior has scored 14 goals this fall, putting him at the top of the Landmark. He scored in 10 of the 19 games this season, including a multiple-goal effort against Randolph-Macon University (2), Susquehanna University (2), Wilkes University (2), and Juniata College (2). Also a top-10 leader in assists, he is part of an offensive unit that led the conference in the shots per game (361) and second in goals scored (41). Bemlohr and Catholic will head to Washington & Lee to take on SUNY Oneonta in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wise closes out his career as a Lycoming Warrior with his first all-conference selection. Playing in all 21 of Lycoming’s games this season, Wise was a part of one of the Landmark’s best defenses, allowing the fewest goals (18), including seven shutouts. The Warriors were 7-0-2 in their last nine games, before losing to Catholic in the Landmark Conference Championship. Wise is Lycoming’s fourth Defensive Player of the Year in program history, and first since 2018.

Allegro made his presence known in goal for Catholic this season, which earned him Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year. Starting in 19 games, Allegro was top-eight in goals against opposing team’s average (1.141), shutouts per game (2), saves (57), and saves per game (3.00). Smith is the second Catholic men's soccer player named Rookie of the Year. He joins Ian Smith, who won the award in 2010.

Gibboney and Lycoming were named Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year in their first season of Landmark Men’s Soccer. Gibboney and assistants Josh Gildea and Luke Klingler have guided Lycoming to an 11-4-6 record and a 7-0-2 Landmark Conference mark. Lycoming finished second place in the conference standings and finished the regular season leading the Landmark Conference in goals-against average (0.842), shutout percentage (.579), winning percentage (.684), and corner kicks per game (6.16), while the team's 1.32 goals per game was fifth in the league.
