TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2022-23 Women's Swimming & Diving All-Conference Teams.
Swimmers of the Year - Katie Herman (Catholic University) | Katie Cashin (Drew University)
Diver of the Year - Jeanna Gailius (University of Scranton)
Rookie of the Year - Katie Herman (Catholic University)
Coaching Staff of the Year - University of Scranton (Chris Brown)
Herman announced herself to the entire conference in style in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries. The three-time Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week flew to the wall, clocking a time of 23.44 to set a new conference and championship meet record, while also earning an NCAA B Cut. She followed that performance with a victory in the 100- freestyle. Her blistering time of 51.16 broke the meet record, the conference record, and a program record while accounting for her second NCAA B Cut of the weekend.
Herman is the fourth Cardinal to be named Swimmer of the Year and the first since 2014. She is also the fourth Catholic women's swimmer to garner Rookie of the Year accolades.
Cashin closed out her collegiate career with a bang, capturing five gold medals over the three-day meet. In her top performance, she lowered her own school, conference, and meet records in winning the 400-individual medley with a time of 4:31.61. Cashin also reset her own school record with a winning time of 2:07.20 in the 200-individual medley, and she helped the victorious 200-freestyle relay team break an additional Drew record in 1:37.35. She also captured the 200-butterfly and swam on the winning 200-medley relay team.
Also the Landmark Conference Women's Swimming Rookie of the Year in 2020, Cashin becomes Drew's second Landmark Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year recipient, joining Mal Vishwanath C'20, who garnered the same award in both 2018 and 2020.
Gailius earned Diver of the Year accolades for a fourth straight year after winning the one and three-meter dives on the weekend. Gailius became the first female student-athlete in Landmark Conference history to earn Diver of the Year honors on four different occasions.
Brown and his staff garnered Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the third time. They were also named in 2020 and 2021.
