2023 Landmark Baseball Awards Announced

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2023 All-Conference teams and award winners on Tuesday afternoon. Selections were nominated and voted on by the league's seven head coaches.

Player of the Year: Ben Watson (Elizabethtown College)

Pitcher of the Year: Tucker Alch (Catholic University)
Rookie of the Year: Quinten Perilli (Elizabethtown College)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Elizabethtown College (Adam Sheibley)

Watson cemented his legacy in the conference after his stellar senior campaign. The outfielder set new conference season records in batting average (.491), hits (82), and total bases (140), and is the new career leader with 19 triples. The two-time First Team selection finished the 2023 season with a .491 batting average, 42 RBI, 21 doubles, eight triples, and seven homerun's. He helped the Blue Jays to a 31-11 overall record and 16-2 in conference play, which secured Etown the top seed in the Landmark Baseball Championship. Patrolling center field, Watson committed no errors and had 80 putouts and one assist.

Watson is the fourth Blue Jay to be honored as the conference player of the year since Elizabethtown joined the conference in 2014. He and the Blue Jays will continue their season as Etown received an at-large bid to the NCAA DIII Baseball Tournament.

Alch becomes the first Landmark pitcher to earn back-to-back Pitcher of the Year honors since Brendan Close of Moravian was honored in 2011 and 2012. He has a career earned run average of 2.49, which ranks him fourth all-time in the conference. He additionally ranks second all-time in wins (25), win percentage (.806), and strikeouts (254).

Alch is just the third Cardinal to be honored as Pitcher of the Year.

Perilli is just one of two freshmen to earn First Team honors, joining teammate David Woolley, who was selected as the top short stop in the league. Perilli was selected as the First Team Utility Player. Through 42 games, Perillit is hitting .399 with 51 RBI, 19 doubles, and 11 homerun's.

Perilli is the first Blue Jay to be honored as the conference Rookie of the Year.

Sheibley and his staff earn their first Coaching Staff of the Year honors after guiding the Blue Jays to their most wins (31) since the program went 33-11 in 1994 - and 16-2 in conference play. Etown set season records in runs scored (417), triples (22), and on-base percentage (.459) this season.
