Fleming Named Men's Golf Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.

The University of Scranton's Matthew Fleming was selected as the conference 2022-23 Men's Golf Senior Scholar-Athlete. Fleming is the second Royal men's golfer to earn the honor. He joins Michael Boland, who was named in 2017-18.

A three-time All-Landmark Conference selection, Fleming helped guide the Royals to the program's first conference title this spring as he finished in a tie for fifth. The Richboro, Pa., native garnered All-Landmark First Team honors in 2021 and 2023 while also earning Second Team honors in 2022. He served as a two-time team captain for the Royals.

For his career, he carded 42 rounds in the 70s including 17 during the 2022-23 season and 11 top-five finishes individually.

In the classroom, Fleming held a 3.81 GPA as a Finance major and earned his Bachelor's Degree from The University on Sunday. He was named to the Dean's List in all seven semesters thus far and is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

On campus, Fleming has been involved in both the Business Club and Portfolio of Responsible Investments under Student Management (PRISM).
