TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors.
Drew University's Dan Blumenthal was selected as the conference 2022-23 Men's Tennis Senior Scholar-Athlete. Blumenthal is the fifth Ranger this academic year to be selected as a Senior Scholar-Athlete, and the third men's tennis student-athlete. He joins Jason Woods (2007-08) and Lloyd Goldstein (2019-20).
Blumenthal is a three-time Second Team All-Landmark selection for the Rangers. He was named to the Singles Second Team in 2019, 2021, and 2022. He helped Drew to conference titles in 2023 and 2021, and a runner-up finish in 2022. Throughout his career, he has guided the Rangers to an impressive 74-17 overall record and a 25-3 conference record. He ends his time with the Drew men's tennis program with a singles record of 30-43 and a doubles record of 22-7.
Additionally, Drew has won its last 22 Landmark Conference regular-season matches, dating back to 2019.
In the classroom, Blumenthal posted a 3.76 undergraduate grade point average as a biochemistry major. He is currently pursuing his master's in data analytics where he carries a 3.88 GPA. He is a four-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection.
Blumenthal completed multiple internships while at Drew. From May to July of 2021, he served as an intern for the Drew Summer Science Institute where he completed an eight-week wet laboratory program working on the synthesis of a novel iso-indole antibacterial compound. He spent a year interning with Grow It Green Morristown. There, he helped new volunteers learn to perform basic farming tasks to help sustainable farming become a reality.
He also spent time as a Chemical Technician with Interek and worked as an assistant tennis pro - providing lessons to adults and kids of all ages.
