Blondin Named Landmark Volleyball Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. -The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designee.

Olivia Blondin of Catholic University was selected as the 2023 Landmark Conference Volleyball Senior Scholar-Athlete. She is the third selection for the Cardinals, following Kelly Cummings (2012) and Bridget Kulesh (2013).

An Art and Design with a Digital Concentration major, Blondin has posted a 3.81 cumulative GPA while completing internships with C Liston Communications and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board as a graphic designer. Blondin was also commissioned to complete a watercolor painting in Catholic University's freshly renovated dining hall, Garvey Hall.

On the court, the All-Landmark First Team selection was tremendous in 2023. Blondin ranked 10th nationally in total kills with 483 and 12th in total points with 535. Her 4.13 kills per set was good for 18th in Division III. Blondin's kill total was the most in a season by a Catholic player since 2007 as she posted double digit kills in 28 of 32 matches. She added 19 double-doubles and also set a new Landmark Conference Tournament record with 28 kills in the quarterfinals.

Blondin had 116 more kills than anyone else in the Landmark Conference in 2023 while leading the Cardinals to a 20-win season for the first time since 2016. Blondin's breakout senior campaign helped Catholic to a five-win improvement over the 2022 season.
