TOWSON, Md. -The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designee.
Bridget Abraldes of the University of Scranton was selected as the 2023 Landmark Conference Field Hockey Senior Scholar-Athlete. She is the third selection in the last five years, and the fourth Royal in program history.
During her career, she helped guide the Royals to a 2021 Landmark Conference championship as well as an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance that same season and a Landmark runner-up finish in 2023. She ranks 11th in program history in points (75), tied for 11th in assists (15), and tied for 13th in goals with 30. On October 25, 2023, she tied the single-game program record with four assists in a 10-0 victory against Lycoming College.
Named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2023 and Second Team in 2021 and 2022, Abraldes was additionally named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region Second Team and to the NFHCA All-Star this past fall.
Academically, Abraldes is a five-time University of Scranton Dean's List honoree, as well as a three-time NFHCA Academic Squad and Landmark Academic Honor Roll recipient. She carries a 3.74 grade point average as a kinesiology major.
She is involved with Scranton's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), has served as an aide at Metro Physical Therapy, and served as an assistant coach for Strong Island Field Hockey.
