2024 Field Hockey Major Award Winners
- Offensive Player of the Year: Katie Redding (University of Scranton)
- Defensive Player of the Year: Kari Schmidt (Susquehanna University)
- Rookie of the Year: Mady Quigley (Susquehanna University)
- Coaching Staff of the Year: Susquehanna University
Katie Redding of the University of Scranton made Landmark Conference history this season, becoming the first player to earn Offensive Player of the Year honors for three consecutive years. Redding led the league with 16 goals and contributed 10 assists, ranking fourth in that category. On September 17, she scored twice in a 7-0 win over King’s College (Pa.), with her first goal breaking Scranton’s career goals record (58), a mark previously set by Denise Atkinson in 1985.
Susquehanna University’s Kari Schmidt earned her second straight Defensive Player of the Year award, anchoring a River Hawk defense that posted four shutouts and allowed just five goals in conference play, with a strong 0.56 goals-against average. This recognition marks the fourth consecutive year a Susquehanna player has won Defensive Player of the Year, with Schmidt’s former teammate Annalee Smith claiming the award in both 2021 and 2022.
Rookie Mady Quigley upheld Susquehanna’s tradition of impressive newcomers, winning Rookie of the Year following her teammate Hannah Garlin’s selection last season. Quigley, who finished the season with eight goals and five assists, was the only first-year player to earn a spot on the All-Conference First Team. She was also named the tournament MVP after scoring both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the championship match.
Susquehanna’s coaching staff, led by head coach Allison Fordyce, guided the River Hawks to a 15-5 overall record and an unblemished 9-0 conference run. The team earned the top seed in the Landmark Field Hockey Tournament and secured back-to-back league titles with a 3-2 victory over Scranton in the championship match.
