Senior Scholar-Athlete History
These honorees must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are chosen by a committee comprising Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications personnel, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designees.
Jack Walsh from Catholic University has been named the league's 2023-24 Men's Golf Senior Scholar-Athlete. He is the third Cardinal to receive this honor, following Matthew Laurendeau (2021) and Zach Mueller (2022).
Walsh, a two-time All-Landmark Conference selection, has consistently excelled at the Landmark Conference Championship, never finishing outside the top 15 in his four appearances. He played a crucial role in helping the Cardinals secure their first league title in 2021, where he shot an 82.
Throughout his golf career at Catholic, Walsh has recorded three career rounds of even par (71, 71, 72), and contributed to the program's team record-low round for a single day (290, +2) as well as a two-day tournament score of 592 (301-291, +16).
Academically, Walsh graduated with a 3.61 GPA as a finance major with a specialization in accounting. He has been named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll every year he was eligible.
Beyond the classroom and golf course, Walsh was actively involved in the University's MLK Day of Service and Mother Teresa Day of Service.
